Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does Resurs work?
Resurs works on the revitalization principle. This word means that a metal-ceramic layer is formed on every surface that experiences friction. It is formed while engine is working. The protective layer renews the geometry of parts and protects them from wear. Be advised that Resurs will not work on parts that are mechanically damaged, e.g. are cracked or split.
2. How Resurs is different from oil viscosity modifiers?
First of all, Resurs is a revitalizer, not a viscosity modifier. The latter change the substance of oil, as well as its physical characteristics, e.g. viscosity. It can be compared to an energy drink - at first the effect is great and the engine works way better, because the oil is more liquid and lubricates the top engine part better. However, after a while it gives a negative effect, because the overall lubrication decreases, and the engine may overheat after some time. Resurs, on the other hand, uses oil as a transportation material to reach the friction surfaces and create a protective layer there. Resurs does not interact with the oil itself, thus oil does not lose its good characteristics. Resurs can be compared to mineral water - the engine is revived, and it is not just a one-time effect, it will last until the next oil change. Moreover, there are no side effects.
3. After using Resurs, I have driven a few hundreds of kilometers, and I don't feel any effect. Does this mean that Resurs doesn't work?
No. After using Resurs, visible results can be seen after driving about 500 km. The first indicator, which shows that Resurs works, is a different engine sound (more silent). After that, stronger and stronger effect can be noticed.
4. Can I perform an overhaul after using Resurs?
Yes, because the layer that Resurs forms is about 10-30 microns thick, while the lathe tool covers around 0.5 mm (500 μm). If you will use Resurs regularly, it is possible that an overhaul will not even be needed; it will be enough to replace the worn piston rings.
5. Can I use Resurs in a new car and what benefits will this bring?
Resurs is recommended to be used in both new and old engines. New engines usually require some time to grind, so that the surfaces would adjust to one another. If you use Resurs, the formed metal-ceramic surface will be grinded instead of the engine piston walls.
6. Is it worth it to use Resurs if the engine has recently been overhauled?
Definitely. Surfaces of a new engine are hardened to decrease wear, and during the overhaul this hardened layer is scraped. That is why the engine exploitation time after an overhaul is shortened to 70,000 km. However, the layer that Resurs forms usually withstands about 200,000 km, which is why the engine exploitation time is extended almost 3 times.
7. Should the dosage be smaller for a new engine?
Yes, 1 bottle of Resurs Total 50 g is enough for up to 100,000 km mileage. If the mileage is bigger, we recommend to use 2 bottles, and if the mileage is very big (over 170,000 km), we recommend to use Resurs Fleet 150 g.
8. If I use Resurs extensively, will the engine of my car last forever?
Unfortunately, Resurs does not make an everlasting effect. Nobody is protected from complete wear, and Resurs creates only a hardly visible layer, which will not fix major dents and scratches.
9. Is it possible that a too thick metal-ceramic surface will form and ruin my engine?
No. The metal-ceramic surface is formed on both surfaces at the same time, and also it requires high pressure and temperature to be formed. When the layer approaches optimal thickness, the friction reduces, which results in lower temperature, and the metal-ceramic surface stops forming. Therefore Resurs can be used without fearing that it will damage the engine.
10. How does the metal-ceramic layer attach to the surface and will it not crumble off after some time?
The metal-ceramic surface crystalizes and anchors itself in the surface relief at about 10-30 micron depth. The protective layer also disgorges into the metal surface so that there is no distinctive margin between them, and for that reason it cannot crumble off.
11. What oil should I use Resurs with?
The choice of oil does not affect Resurs usage. Resurs uses the oil to reach the friction surfaces to form a protective metal-ceramic layer. It does not interact with the oil and does not change its substance or physical characteristics, like viscosity modifiers do. Because of this reason Resurs is usable with any kind of oil.
12. If I will not use my car for a while, will Resurs settle in the bottom of the car's crankcase and will not give any effect?
No. After adding Resurs to the oil, you have to leave the engine to work for 10-15 minutes. During that time, the revitalizer gets into the surface pores and remains there. Thus, the car can be left without worrying that afterwards Resurs will not give any effect.
13. Do I need to change the oil before applying Resurs?
Yes, to reach the maximum effect, it is recommended to change the engine/transmission oil and the oil filter. Resurs starts to work after about 500 km, therefore after driving 300 km and changing the oil you will feel no or very little effect. To maximize it, please change the oil and oil filter.
14. Do I need to use Resurs after every oil change?
Yes, it is recommended to use Resurs after every oil change so that the metal-ceramic layer would be renewed and the best characteristics of Resurs would sustain.
15. Can I use Resurs if previously I used other revitalizers or viscosity modifiers?
Yes, however, before using Resurs we recommend to change the oil and the filter.
16. If after applying 2 bottles of Resurs I noticed a 5% fuel economy, will using 4 bottles drive the economy to 10%?
No. Resurs can improve the engine performance up to a certain point. If you increase the dosage after the optimal performance is reached, this will not result in any further effect. The amount of active material in the bottles is calculated at the optimum level. Use the instructions on the website to determine how much Resurs is needed in your situation.
17. Is Resurs suitable for two-stroke engines?
Yes, there is a specific product for two-stroke engines, called Resurs Moto.
18. I have a diesel vehicle. Which product should I use - Resurs Total/Fleet or Diesel?
If we are talking about a passenger car, Resurs Total or Fleet should be used. Resurs Diesel is designed for engines that use 6-10 l of oil, and for automobile fleets (taxi, post, etc.). Nothing bad would happen if you used Resurs Diesel for a car, but it would be way simpler to use Resurs Total or Fleet, because you simply would not have to measure how much product should you use.
